Today, the Prague Stock Exchange closed at the highest value since the end of June 2008, i.e. for more than 15 and a half years. The PX index increased by 1.55 percent to 1,513.01 points, mainly thanks to the growth of the shares of the energy company ČEZ. Financial titles also showed solid growth, according to data on the stock exchange’s website. The koruna weakened slightly against the euro and the dollar today.

CEZ shares added 2.58 percent to 854 crowns. “ČEZ shares strengthened despite the lowering of the rating outlook by the Moody’s agency, so their growth was apparently mainly due to speculation in the press about the possible abolition of the tax on excessive profits in 2025,” stated Wood & Company broker Vladimír Vávra.

Komerční banka’s issues closed with a profit of 1.22 percent at 832.50 crowns, and Erste shares rose by 1.62 percent to 1,030 crowns. Moneta securities also rose, by 1.91 percent to 101.40 crowns. The shares of insurance company VIG rose by 1.47 percent to 725 crowns.

On the contrary, the securities of the Colt armory ended in the red, losing 3.23 percent and closing at the value of 600 crowns. Shares of the Pilulka chain also ended in the red, losing 1.87 percent to 210 crowns. The value of the shares of the beverage manufacturer Kofola did not change and remained at 270 crowns.

The Czech currency weakened slightly for the second day in a row. Today, against the euro, it lost two pennies to 25.33 CZK/EUR, and against the dollar, the crown lost three pennies to 23.40 CZK/USD.
