Police officers will focus more on drivers during the Easter holidays, the traffic action starts today

--

Ústí Region – Police officers of the Regional Police Directorate of the Ústí Region will take part in the nationwide traffic safety event called “EASTER” during the upcoming holidays. It starts today on “Green” Thursday and will also continue on “Big” Friday and “Easter” Monday. The aim is to ensure the safety and smoothness of road traffic with the aim of reducing the consequences of traffic accidents and influencing the disorderly conduct of road users.

During the Easter holidays, people drink more alcoholic beverages and, unfortunately, it is still a big trend to get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle after drinking. During the traffic safety event, patrols will focus primarily on checking whether drivers are driving under the influence of alcohol or other addictive substances, checking compliance with the set speed, driving style, use of seat belts and restraint systems when transporting children. The police officers will also check whether the drivers are not holding a mobile phone device in their hands and whether their vehicles are in satisfactory technical condition. The search for wanted persons, things and stolen motor vehicles will also be part of the event.

As part of checks on compliance with the ban on alcohol consumption before or during driving and the “I drive – drink non-alcoholic beer” project, responsible drivers who have not consumed any alcoholic beverage before or during driving and whose breath test shows a zero value during a road test will receive a reward non-alcoholic beer and a one-time breathalyzer. The aim is to spread awareness among drivers about non-alcoholic beer, which can be a safe alternative to the popular drink from the point of view of compliance with the law.

“During the holidays, there is increased traffic on the roads, and so-called “holiday” drivers often go out. You need to take this into account on your travels, drive respectfully and, above all, anticipate. We wish all road users a happy journey to their loved ones and a safe return to their homes,” said police spokesman Tomáš Frolík.
