The Golden State Warriors defeated the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday evening, but star rookie Victor Wembanyama made NBA history. Finishing with 32 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocks, Wembanyama became the first rookie in NBA history with that line or better in a game, per Basketball Reference’s StatHead.

Even without the rookie qualification, Wembanyama became just the 19th player in NBA history to post this line. When adding in the three made three-pointers, this list shrinks to just five players: James Harden, Kevin Durant, DeMarcus Cousins, Kevin Garnett, and Wembanyama.

The Spurs have been playing much better basketball recently, having entered this game on a three-game winning streak. Golden State also had a three-game winning streak entering this one, and has now extended that to four, which is the second-longest active winning streak in the Western Conference.

The Houston Rockets finally lost on Sunday, falling to the Dallas Mavericks to snap an 11-game winning streak that at one point pulled them within just a half-game of Golden State. With their win on Sunday, the Warriors now have a two-game cushion over the Rockets, which is some much-needed breathing room.

Golden State has some tough games coming up, as they will face the Mavericks, Rockets, and Mavericks again in their next three games. All three are massive for Golden State.
