YES: It makes no sense to continue negotiations of a strategic nature with the government

--

It makes no sense to continue negotiations of a strategic nature in the economic and social sphere with the government, even with the participation of President Petr Pavle. According to the first vice-chairman of the ANO movement Karel Havlíček, the shadow government agreed on this position. He told reporters after today’s meeting. He read the Cabinet of Petr Fiala (ODS) that he claimed he would not raise taxes or change the valuation of pensions, and did the opposite.

The latest contradiction between the coalition and the opposition appeared after the March meeting at the Prague Castle on the pension reform between Pavlo, government representatives led by Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Marian Jurečka (KDU-ČSL) and ANO politicians Havlíček, Alena Schillerová and Aleš Juchelka.

After him, the President announced that everyone agreed that the retirement age would have to be raised in the future. YES, but subsequently denied the agreement. Another meeting in the same format was supposed to take place this week on Monday, however the opposition movement canceled its participation. It was justified by the fact that some representatives of the government, led by Fiala, intend to push through the reform regardless of the opinion of the opposition.

“The shadow government has decided that it makes no sense to continue with this government any further negotiations of a strategic nature in the economic and social sphere, even with the participation of the president,” Havlíček said today.

On Wednesday, Havlíček said that he was shocked by the publication of the internal minutes, which were not approved by one of the actors of the meeting. The recording was published by the Castle on its website. According to its wording, representatives of ANO and the cabinet agreed on the need for changes in the first pension pillar. At the same time, the opposition body did not dispute the necessity of raising the retirement age, however, it does not agree with the specific mechanism proposed by the government.

Shortly after the March meeting, the YES movement rejected claims that it had agreed to raise the retirement age. The President subsequently argued with the minutes of the meeting, the first vice-chairman of ANO Havlíček then stated that the movement submitted a fundamental comment to him. In its justification, ANO emphasized that there was no agreement on a sensitive point.
