Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Oleksiy Danilov from the post of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), Ukrainian website Hromadske reported. The head of state did not announce the reason.
Danilov was replaced by Oleksandr Lytvynenko, who had been the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service since July 2021. Oleg Ivashchenko will now lead here, writes the Kyiv Post server. Ukrainian media do not write any further details about Ivashchenko. According to the Ukrainská pravda server, a person with the same name was the deputy director of military intelligence in 2021.
The 61-year-old Danilov has held his position since 2019, taking up his position a few months after Zelenskyy became president. The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (RNBO) has a coordinating role in matters of national security and defense and is an advisory body to the head of state, Reuters reported.
