According to the Russian authorities, air defenses managed to shoot down missiles from a Czech-made RM-70 Vampire rocket launcher over the Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine. The regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov informed about the incident about an hour after midnight local time (Tuesday before midnight CET) and stated that the attack resulted in one person being injured.

Russia and Ukraine have intensified cross-border attacks on each other in recent weeks. Last week, Moscow’s forces targeted the energy sector in particular in one of the largest operations against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24, 2022. They said it was in retaliation for earlier Ukrainian attacks on the oil industry.
