We have a weekend tip like wine for you! The Automotive Jewels exhibition was modeled after the world’s largest events

--

Famous pre-war cars and youngtimers, quality prevails over quantity. And the two main themes of the exhibition are the round anniversaries of two important car brands in our history – 100 years of Zbrojovka car production and 90 years of Jawa car production.

The winning shows, which are selected by an expert jury, but are also aimed at the lay public, will be seen during a guided tour right at the event.

The Automotive Jewels exhibition already showed in its first years that it has no ambition to become the biggest. The goal is completely different, taking as a model the most prestigious world competitions, such as Pebble Beach in the Californian golf resort or the Concorso d’Eleganza on Lake Como in Italy. The rarest vehicles from all corners of the globe take part in these, and you really see the best of them. It is an honor for the exhibitors themselves that their cars are selected for exhibitions of this type.

Only those cars that meet the strictest criteria of quality, originality and uniqueness are nominated for the show. The very participation in the event is therefore a sign of the high quality of each accepted car. The exhibited vehicles will then be evaluated by an expert jury as part of the Concours d’Elegance, and the winning cars will then receive prestigious awards in approximately a dozen categories. Traditionally, the overall winner of the show will also be announced. As part of a public poll, every visitor to the event can vote for the exhibit they liked the most.

This year too, several world-class cars will shine at the event, one of the main stars will be the eight-liter Mercedes-Benz 680 from 1929, which has participated in several prestigious exhibitions in the past, including the competition of elegance in California’s Pebble Beach. The seven-liter Hispano-Suiza H6B car from 1925, built by the famous body shop Jacques Saoutchik, will certainly attract attention.

Veterans call it Pekelník, it is a Czech Zbrojovka racing car that competed at the Nürburgring in 1930.

Another star will be the show’s oldest vehicle, the Autocar Type VIII, 1902, which was the first two-cylinder produced in the USA. The car is in maximum original condition and has a certificate of authenticity issued by the Royal Auto Club London. It has already completed the London-Brighton run four times, which is only for vehicles up to the year of manufacture 1904, including the last year in 2023. So we are talking about cars worth high millions, with suitors from all corners of the world.

Našinec will certainly appreciate that on the lawn of the golf resort in Hostivař they will see a selection of the best from Czech Zbrojovka, which is celebrating 100 years of car production, followed by Jawa cars, which are celebrating ninety years since the start of production. The Zbrojovka Z18/S racing car from 1927, equipped with a supercharger, which in 1930 was the first Czechoslovak racing car to start at the legendary Nürburgring circuit, is worth mentioning in this morning.

The event is for everyone, both experts and lay people are invited, children are of course no exception.

The founder and at the same time the director of the show, Jiří Martinka, has not been sleeping much in the last few days, because several important changes are about to take place. “We have prepared several attractive novelties for this year. We are moving the main exhibition area to the immediate vicinity of the lake between the first and last hole of our course, we are preparing a commented parade of the cars on display, and a new item is the auction of vintage cars, motorcycles and treasures from the garage. In addition to the cars on display, viewers will also be able to view the artworks of the Golf Hostivař Gallery with approximately thirty-five works by prominent Czech authors such as David Černý, Stanislav Kolíbal or Martin Rajniš. Just walking around the golf course is an experience, and we believe that a large part of the event’s visitors will take advantage of this option.”

In addition, a rich accompanying program awaits the visitors, the band Hot Wings will play during the day. Parents with children will surely appreciate the fact that the program also takes the little ones into consideration. Children under the age of six are admitted for free.

The gates of the Automotive Jewels exhibition will open to the public tomorrow at ten o’clock, the ceremonial opening of the event will take place half an hour later. The quality of all vehicles will be evaluated by an expert jury and everything will culminate at three o’clock in the afternoon with a ceremonial parade of the winning vehicles.
