Shopping in Czech retail chains is becoming extremely problematic. You no longer have to worry only when purchasing fresh products, such as meat or dairy products, where defects of various nature are most common. But even perishable foods are imported by stores of appalling quality.

A lot of bad inside

Unfortunately, it is becoming more and more clear that the State Agricultural and Food Inspection can only capture part of the problematic products. The rest simply goes unnoticed and people buy it and then consume it. In order for this not to be the case, the occurrence of objectionable foods would have to be drastically reduced. However, this would assume that the retail chains will start behaving responsibly and will not drive anything here.

This time SZPI had to withdraw the popular pasta from sale. “The maximum permitted limit for the content of ergot alkaloids was exceeded in the food. Food is not considered safe if it is contaminated with foreign substances,” states in its report on the product K-Bio Dinkel Vollkorn Fusilli.

If you can’t imagine anything below that, know that these substances begin to appear in food after the sensitive action of fungi. You’d better not even imagine what you’re actually consuming in that case, because it’s really not nice at all.

What was that?

The inspectors have already called on the public not to eat this pasta under any circumstances, otherwise they could cause considerable problems. They point out that the consumption of such harmful foods is definitely not recommended. If it were nothing, SZPI would not warn in this way.

Let’s add that the pasta was sold under Kaufland’s private brand, which is also intended for premium products – K-Favourites. Other markings also indicated that it should be a high-quality product. There is also the label Bio. However, as it turned out, the pasta was miles away from any quality.

It is also important to communicate all the details of the product. This is a batch with an expiration date of April 11, 2026, so you can still have it at home. The pasta was sold in a 500 gram package, and the manufacturer is Spaichinger Nudelmacher.
