According to the ABC server, the man managed to catch the cobra and put it in a bag, but the snake bit him several times on the left arm. Apparently, the rescuer did not know what kind of animal it was.

Its behavior indicates this, because the bites of the mentioned snake are usually painless, according to experts. Therefore, after the incident, instead of calling an ambulance, the man calmly went home to have his wounds treated by his wife. “She immediately immobilized his limb and bound the wounds with a compression bandage,” confirmed the head of the local emergency medical service, Paula Martenová.

But after a while, the man began to feel the first symptoms of poisoning. Only at this moment did the wife call an ambulance, which took the injured man to the hospital. There, however, his condition continued to deteriorate to a critical stage, after which the patient died of cardiac arrest.

An average of two people die from snakebites in Australia each year. These are usually the consequences of attacks by the mentioned cobra. Last November, a 25-year-old backpacker who came to the country as a part-time worker died after her attack. Eastern pangolins inhabit grasslands and eucalyptus forests.

Toxicologist Timothy Jackson from the University of Melbourne specified that the venom of the eastern cobra contains several toxins. “Venom basically disrupts blood clotting, at a high rate. At the same time, it damages blood vessels and affects blood pressure,” he said, adding that cardiovascular collapse can occur within half an hour after a bite.

Jackson further cautioned that anyone bitten by any snake should call 911 immediately. According to him, first aid consists in fixing the affected area with a compression bandage and remaining in a rest mode.
