Prague has a new center for victims of domestic violence, it will help children and teenagers

--

Data from 2022 show that 30 percent of women and 12 percent of men have experienced domestic violence. Even the most vulnerable children and adolescents are affected by such dire statistics.

however, there is an acute shortage of people and services they can turn to in case of need. That is why the opening of the new center of the ACORUS organization is a significant milestone.

In this place, a model of work was created, which should be an inspiration for others. And thank you very much for that. This is where these children can find understanding, safe and professional help. And society will move it to the future, said Imkov Laurenkov.

According to him, the first lack of such services is, among other things, the reason for many people staying in violent long-term relationships. And then you have no chance of being healed in any way. After the accidental death of a hunter who had been in a commercial relationship for years, added the human rights representative.

Childhood in safety and without fear

According to the study, one in seven to ten children was molested at home, either as a witness or as a victim, said child therapist Kateina Mrzenov.

That is why we are very happy to be able to expand our existing capacity and help children so that they can spend their childhood safely and without fear of close people, added the editor of the ACORUS organization Jaroslava Chaloupkov.

Among other things, the center provides children with crisis intervention. Child clients go through many crises not only when they grow up in a violent society, but also after they leave.

Build safely

When you are afraid of those closest to you, who should be your support, you have no chance to grow into someone who respects his place in society, is stable, resistant and ready for life. In someone who knows how to develop good relationships in adulthood, explained the name Laurenkov.

At first, in the new premises, clients can use professional advice from social workers or a psychotherapist. There is also the possibility of initial consultation.

In specially invited cases, a pedestrian dormitory in an asylum house and a crisis stay are also available to them. In the therapeutic center, life will be normal, at least for a while. By visiting here, they can consult with the center’s workers for respect, a door, a drink and safety, which they need so much in their lives.

For me today it is such a sign that it makes sense. And I will be very happy when it makes sense and I know that our center is designed for him. I hope they will find a safe place here, added the editor of the ACORUS organization.
