The Hockey Pirates from Chomutov are in the semi-finals of the playoffs. They managed it in the shortest possible time, when they beat Letce z Letňany after three games. However, the decisive match in Chomutov was very difficult, the North Bohemians defeated a tenacious and skating opponent only in extra time 4:3.

Both teams started to assert themselves in the ROCKNET arena in Chomutov only in the second period, which the home team dominated 2:1. But the final act brought the high drama. In the 45th minute, Letňany tied the score at 2:2 thanks to Drtin and converted five minutes later from Theimer’s stick.
A few seconds later, however, the visiting goalkeeper Němeček chose an extremely bad moment, as he wanted to play an arc over Chomutov’s Chrpa, but he pulled the puck out of the air and finished it into the empty net – 3:3. Then a wild tug-of-war began, when both goalkeepers couldn’t let anything go behind them. In overtime, four minutes were enough for the Pirates to decide. He put a stop to the euphoria by beating goalkeeper Němeček Málo. Chomutov will face Vyškov in the semi-finals.

“Tough match, tough. It was made even worse by the fact that we spent a lot of time as three. We allowed ourselves to be needlessly excluded. On the other hand, it must be said that we defended fantastically and I have to praise the entire defense. In the third period, we conceded two unnecessary goals, but we still believed that we would see the match through to the winning end, and in the end we succeeded,” Pirates coach Petr Martínek took a breather.
