Flat Cafe

Under Her Majesty’s supervision at the Flat Café.

Coffee from a London roaster and a proper English breakfast under the supervision of a large portrait of the young Queen Elizabeth II. Flat Café bets on British style and is not afraid to show it. In addition to hearty breakfasts, there are also several larger meals available in the afternoon, and evenings can include mostly gin cocktails.

The cafe is very spacious, but especially on weekends it is bursting at the seams. The interior is playful – green tiles similar to those from the London Underground cover the entire bar, there are old English wallpapers on the walls and, of course, there is also a brown Chesterfield sofa.

Cafe Jen

This small cafe is popular mainly among the neighbors, but they welcome everyone here with a smile. The friendly owners have woven their own special soul into this place, which shows that there is beauty in simplicity and honesty. In addition to great coffee, it offers self-made sandwiches and cakes, as well as breakfast. Every Saturday, they have a breakfast special added to their regular offer, which is always worth trying.

The cafe also includes a small colonial with coffee, beer, wine, free-range eggs and lots of other essentials. In the warm months, Café Jen also has pleasant seating in front of the café.

Botanica Coffee Truck

Year-round garden. That’s how this open-air “café” could be described. And that’s not only because it only offers outdoor seating, but it’s also full of flowers and plants. It is part of the adjacent flower shop. There is plenty of seating space – whether it’s benches with tables for a large group, or a sewn-in alcove with armchairs for quiet conversation. And if you’re lucky, the hanging swing will also be free.

In addition, the quiet inner block, where they prepare excellent coffee from a black van, never looks the same. In autumn it is lit up by pumpkins, with the arrival of the Lunar New Year there are usually lantern decorations and in spring everything blooms here.

KRO Bistro & Bakery

KRO in Vršovice is a bakery, cafe and bistro.

The newest addition to the KRO family of businesses is not only a cafe, but also a bakery and a bistro. The cleverly arranged space seems to separate visitors who want to sit here in peace and those who go for sourdough bread and coffee to go. And that the door really doesn’t break here.

The local coffee from the Prague roaster doubleshot is excellent. In addition to bread, the pastries worth tasting are mainly salty snails or doughnuts. Of the larger meals, try especially the fresh and delicious wraps in the “do it yourself” style.

Your mother

A small cafe with a view of Gočár’s Church of St. Wenceslas. As the name suggests, you’ll feel like you’re at your mom’s place. The bar is always overflowing with home-baked goodies, from buns, cakes and other “mommy classics” to trendier cookies or brownies. Plus at a good price. Breakfast is also available, most often in the form of richly coated breads.

It is also one of the few cafes that is an early bird – it opens as early as 7 o’clock. However, the space here is very small and there are only a few places to sit. Very often the cafe is full.

Coffee Source

The black wooden design is complemented by a wall with live plants.

It is worth going here for good coffee and for all kinds of coffee accessories, from beans to a home coffee maker for drip coffee. Coffee Source is the home coffee shop of the roastery of the same name. Visitors will be in the mood for coffee as soon as they arrive, because upon entering the cafe they will take the “knob” in the shape of an espresso lever. Inside, the built-in coffee machine in the bar, which looks almost like a beer tap, catches the eye.

You can almost always find a place to sit in this modern, spacious cafe. With coffee, it offers a changing selection of sweets in the shop window. And if you are interested in local coffee, the cafe regularly organizes a tasting of its current range of coffees, the so-called cupping.

Café Sladkovsky

This business has been an integral part of Vršovice and the local community for years. In the past, you could also come here for breakfast, today Café Sladkovský is strictly an evening cafe and tapas bar – only on Sundays it opens earlier. But he did not lose his charm by chance. The place honors the spirit of the Czech journalist and politician Karel Sladkovský, whose bust you can find on the building directly above the entrance to the cafe.

Sladkovský was a rebel and an activist who fought for freedoms of all kinds. Even this place seems simply bohemian. So, if you don’t come here for good coffee, Unetic beer or delicious Mediterranean cuisine, it’s definitely worth a visit just for the atmosphere.

Typical espresso bar

The concept of a quick caffeine refill at the bar has also found its place in quieter Vršovice. And they do very well in Typica. The place itself invites you to stop. A green, wood-paneled entrance with two benches and a pleasant interior inside, where you can take a well-needed break. The service here is also very nice. In addition to coffee, it offers something sweet to bite into, as well as tea, lemonade, wine or canned beer from the microbrewery. In the summer, they also have a few tables outside.
