It hurts us, it’s about values. The minister spat on Cyril Svoboda again

--

The national committee of the KDU-ČSL did not have the fate of Cyril Svoboda on the agenda today. Was he talked about? “Yes, there was talk of him. We talked about how Cyril Svoboda is damaging the KDU-ČSL. For a long time, his views have not been identified with the KDU-ČSL. His foreign security direction. And you can’t talk about him as some kind of foreign security expert if he does what he does. And how he expresses himself. The national committee also adopted a resolution condemning his actions,” Hladík said, adding that the resolution was adopted unanimously.

“And what will happen now? My personal opinion is clear. It is used as a person who advocates foreign security policy that is close to Russia. He is clearly not a Christian democrat in the long term with his views and attitudes, therefore he is harming the People’s Party. This is a matter of value, this is a matter of principle. And I will not back down from my opinion and will continue to insist on it. Today, however, the wider management clearly said that this opinion is exactly the same, but that they do not want to deal with rank-and-file member Cyril Svoboda any further. We urged him to actually leave the party himself,” Hladík pointed out. Svoboda refused this in the past.

The talk was also about the autumn congress and the election of the chairman of the People’s Party. “I will not run for party chairman at the October congress if the current chairman, Marian Jurečka, defends his position. I am consistent in this,” said Hladík. According to him, the declining preferences of the party are not about the chairman. “It’s about creating a strong team with a clear vision that will pull on one side of the rope and that can present the values and principles of Christian democracy in a modern way. Who can show people why the people’s party is here. That we are a stable party. Center side. A party that can balance the extremes of such a socialist concept that everyone deserves the same, and preferably to have the same salary and live in the same conditions. And the right-wing spectrum that is here for entrepreneurs. No, we’re here for the people. And this is the kind of people’s party I want. And I don’t care at all from what position I will promote this,” added Hladík.

Yesterday, a meeting regarding the pension reform took place at Prague Castle. Today, Prague Castle published the recording of this meeting, indirectly accusing the representatives of the ANO movement of making things up a bit about what was or was not said at that meeting.

“When someone lies, he kicks when someone convicts him of lying. I think that the recording of that meeting, which according to my information was published at the request of journalists under the Freedom of Information Act, is a normal matter,” Hladík said, noting that he sees no problem with it. “It feels like I’m in a puppet world. The representatives of the ANO movement, the two vice-presidents are some scumbags, or I don’t know what? So I go to the political meeting and I have a responsibility. Either I am talking about pensions for today’s fifties and forties, about how dignified pensions they will have, how the system will be set up so that it makes sense. Because the reform does not apply to current seniors at all,” added Hladík.

“I am very glad that Mr. President is looking for a cross-section and a compromise across the entire political spectrum for those key topics, which is the pension reform. But at the same time completely normal human, and take it from each of us – when you sit in a meeting, there are 15 people there, they all agree to something, then you go to the press, they all agree to it again, and then the boss, the owner of the movement returns somewhere from the Balearics, he didn’t even take the time to go to a meeting with the president of the republic, and he will say: You did it wrong. Nothing applies, I revoke what I revoked…” Hladík spoke at length.

Today’s meeting of the government also concerned revenues from emission allowances, when it was approved that the revenues will still be income of the state budget next year, from 2026 the main beneficiary will be the State Environmental Fund, a smaller part of the income will also be shared by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Ministry of the Environment. Isn’t that enough for Hladík? “The result is very good, I am happy for the agreement. It’s exactly what I wanted from the beginning. To ensure the unequivocal stability of the fact that all the revenues from emission allowances can be used for the modernization of Czech industry,” Hladík pointed out.

In the end, there was also talk about whether solar panels should also be on the roofs of historic buildings in the future – and whether historic buildings in historic city centers should also be insulated. “Certainly panels should not be on historic buildings where they are visible. In any case not in squares, in any case not in churches. They should not be insulated. But even with historic buildings or listed buildings, you have to think about not turning it into an open-air museum, so that people can live there, so that they can live there, so that they can renovate,” said Hladík.
