Prague detectives are looking for a rioter who attacked a man in Karlín after a banal incident with a cigarette. Both the incident and the attacker were caught on camera.

The incident took place in mid-March in the evening in Sokolovská street in Prague 8.
Near the Urxova tram stop, a woman lit a cigarette, which she then almost accidentally put out against a speaker belonging to a group of men standing there. Fortunately, she noticed in time that it was not an ashtray and extinguished the cigarette on the ground. Even so, she apologized to the men. Afterwards, she went to a nearby store to do some shopping and one of the men started insulting her.

“However, a friend was waiting for the woman outside, who accompanied her the whole time and thus stood up for her. At that moment, one of the men punched him in the face. As a result of this attack, the victim fell to the ground, where the perpetrator kicked him in the head with his knee. This action resulted in injury to the victim’s health,” said police spokeswoman Kristýna Soukupová.
The police have secured camera footage from the scene, on which the attacker is recorded. On another recording, the attacker was caught, including the people who accompanied him.
“In connection with this case, we ask the public to provide any information regarding the perpetrator or witnesses of the event. If you recognize the people on the camera footage, contact 158,” the spokeswoman added.
The man is now suspected of the crime of disorderly conduct and bodily harm, for which, if convicted, he faces a prison sentence of up to three years.
