26.4. – Urbanity Campus Tachov received the prestigious Sustainability Star 2024 award from the scientific board of the Czech & Slovak Sustainability Summit conference. The project of the Urbanity real estate group represents a modern approach to industrial development, which builds on high standards and environmentally friendly technologies. The production site was ranked among the ten best projects in terms of sustainability in the second year of the competition. The summit aims to present projects that have had a demonstrably positive impact on the environment or society. Markéta Šimáčková, COO and Deputy CEO of Urbanity, accepted the award on April 25 at the Cubex Center in Prague.

“We really appreciate the fact that the board of the Czech & Slovak Sustainability Summit competition has chosen Urbanity Campus Tachov as one of the top ten sustainable projects of 2024. The creation of sustainable industrial sites, which are built on renewable energy sources and other technologies that mitigate environmental impacts, has been an integral part of our vision since the beginning of our company’s operations. At the same time, we are very happy that more people and companies will learn about sustainable projects such as Urbanity Campus Tachov in this way, and we can inspire them. Activities that have a real positive impact on people’s lives and the environment are important for the future of our country,” said Roland Hofman, co-founder of the Urbanity group.

Urbanity Campus Tachov represents a new generation of industrial sites that make comprehensive use of brownfield land. Its uniqueness lies, among other things, in the use of renewable energy sources in the form of the largest rooftop solar power plant in the Czech Republic, including extensive battery storage. It also works with other advanced technologies in the field of water and heat management. At the same time, the campus is an integral part of the city of Tachov, as it provides services not only to employees, but also to local communities. There is, for example, a race doctor, a relaxation zone or a children’s group, the establishment of which significantly supported local preschool education. In addition, the ongoing completion of the area will gradually expand the project to include a multifunctional building with a hotel or a public forest park and a kindergarten.

This innovative project has become the first ever industrial site in the Czech Republic to receive the prestigious BREEAM Communities certification for sustainable urban districts, which is normally awarded to residential sites, and has achieved the highest rating in Central and Eastern Europe. Last year, Urbanity Campus Tachov even won first place in the Best of Realty and also two first places in the Estate Awards competition, where the expert jury particularly appreciated the way in which Urbanity integrated the entire campus into the local environment, where it significantly contributes to increasing the quality of life of the residents of Tachov and surroundings. In addition, in 2023, the Urbanity Group was the first ever developer to be included in the ESG Rating in the TOP10 category of medium-sized enterprises.

Urbanity Campus Tachov was selected this year by the scientific council of the competition, together with nine other projects, and thus ranked among the best sustainable projects of the last year. Over 60 projects were entered into the competition. This year’s second edition of the summit took place in the Cubex Center in Prague. Compared to the first year, it brought greater involvement of state institutions, expanded to include various interactive conference sections and workshops, and a wider range of interested parties. More than 500 participants took part in the summit.

Urbanity is a real estate group that focuses on premium commercial real estate. Its goal is to build industrial campuses of the new generation, where the added value is an environment strongly oriented to the needs and comfort of their tenants. The concept of projects from Urbanity meets the individual demands of modern employers, and above all their employees, as well as the requirements for ecological and energy sustainability of their own operations. The realizations of the Urbanity group, which is part of the M.L.Moran investment group founded in 1996, are unique in the Czech market with their comprehensive urban planning solutions and represent the future of the cultivation of industrial areas and brownfields for the 21st century.
