Entrance fees to buildings under the administration of the National Institute of Monuments in the region will increase after two years, which include chateaux and castles, with the exception of the Kunštát castle in Blanensko. The entrance fee rises rapidly, with an increase of twenty crowns in most places, Bítov Castle, and Bučovice Castle by forty crowns, while in Lednice the price will increase the most significantly, specifically by sixty crowns.

According to the chief castellan of Lednice, Ivana Holásková, this inconvenient price increase is caused not only by rising energy costs, but also by a general increase in service prices, maintenance and operation costs, as well as wages. It is quite clear that people do not like this situation, but the castellan Holásková assured that the visitors will benefit from this price increase.

Since most South Moravian state monuments open their doors before the holidays, tourists can expect Easter decorations in the interior of the main circuit. They also have the opportunity to watch the preparation of Easter dishes with a demonstration of cooking on a tiled stove and fireplace. In addition, you can taste food, stuffing or buns with cottage cheese and jam.

The gardens of the Lysice Castle will open in a new guise after two years of extensive reconstruction. Visitors can take a look at the restored woodworking shop from 1835, the only one preserved in the Czech Republic, and explore the terracotta decoration, sculptures and moldings. Another attraction for tourists is the restored gardens of Rájec nad Svitavou Castle, which will be home to a number of events throughout the year, including wine tasting.

We cannot miss the castle in Uherčice, the ‘Cinderella of Znojemsko’, where the eastern wing, which has not been open to the public until now, will be opened. It has undergone extensive restoration and is now ready to be toured with historic furniture according to period photographs.

If you don’t want to wait, some monuments, such as the castle in Valtice, are already open. Here we recommend visiting the artificial grotto cave, where this year it will offer a tour of the technical facilities, including an exhibition of fossils.

For history lovers, there is the baroque castle in Slavkov near Brno, which traditionally only closes in December and thus belongs to the sights with the longest season in the Czech Republic. It recently opened its doors for a tour with samples of Empire fashion and dishes based on period recipes.

Thanks to private patrons, it was possible to restore several interesting pieces from the Rájec nad Svitavou castle collections, such as a representative oil painting of Princess Leopoldine of Salm-Reifferscheidt-Krautheim. with grace and elegance, there is now much to admire and explore in the south of Moravia, all you have to do is look.
