A traffic accident involving two trucks closed the D11 highway in the direction of Prague after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2. One of the drivers suffered serious injuries and had to be airlifted to hospital. Long lines form at the scene of the accident.

According to police spokeswoman Michaela Richterová, the accident took place on the third kilometer of D11 in the direction of the center of the metropolis. Due to the accident, the police initially closed the highway only partially and diverted traffic to the left lane.

However, an emergency helicopter was dispatched for the injured driver, which is why the highway had to be closed while the rescuers intervened. Long lines form at the site. Drivers must expect a delay of more than half an hour.

Firefighters had to extricate the injured driver from the car. According to rescue service spokeswoman Jana Poštová, the roughly 30-year-old man suffered serious injuries to his head and face and was airlifted to a trauma center while conscious.
