A drone attack caused a fire at a power plant in Novocherkassk in southwestern Russia overnight today. This is reported by the Russian-language BBC server with reference to Russian Telegram channels. The Reuters agency wrote that the fire had already been extinguished, but two units of the power plant had to be shut down.

One of the Telegram channels reported on the explosions at the thermal power plant and also on the overflight of about 20 drones over the area, which is located near Rostov-on-Don. Another channel, Baza, which has good contacts with Russian security forces, also reported that a drone attack led to the fire.

The Governor of the Rostov Region, Vasiliy Golubev, confirmed the fire at the power plant in a telegram, although he did not write what led to it. He said that it was quickly extinguished, but two blocks of equipment were out of order, which led to a temporary power outage. According to Golubev, no one was injured.

Later, the Russian Ministry of Defense added that air defense over the region adjacent to Ukraine shot down 11 drones.

Eleven people were injured overnight in southern Ukraine’s Mykolaiv after shrapnel from Russian attack drones shot down by air defenses hit a residential building. Today, the Ukrainska Pravda portal reports this with reference to the Southern Command of the Ukrainian Army. Two electrical stations are vandalized in the Odesa region.

The Ukrainian military said that prior to the drone attack, the Russians fired a Ch-31P surface-to-air anti-radar missile from a tactical air force aircraft over the Black Sea to engage Ukraine’s air defenses. There is no information about any damage that the rocket may have caused. Subsequently, the Russian army launched several waves of attack drones from the Black Sea region. In the Mykolaiv region, they attacked an energy infrastructure facility, which caught fire. Nobody got hurt. In Mykolaiv, fragments of a downed drone hit a two-story residential building, where a fire also broke out. Eleven people were injured, two of them ended up in hospital.

According to the Telegram channel RBK Ukraine, after the attacks on two electrical stations in Odesa and elsewhere in the region, energy workers had to limit the supply of electricity, the measure concerns industrial enterprises. In Odesa, public transport is disrupted, trams and trolleybuses did not run. The electricity company Ukrenerho said that “the situation is difficult”.

The spokeswoman of the Southern Command of the Ukrainian Army, Nataliya Khumenyukova, reported that air defense destroyed eight Russian drones over the Mykolaiv and Odesa regions.
