Trump’s ex-lawyer to lose license | iRADIO

--

Former US President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, John Eastman, should lose his law license because of his role in trying to overturn the result of the 2020 presidential election. According to news agencies, this was recommended on Wednesday by a California judge, whose view will now be considered by the highest court of this US state.

Eastman was instrumental in creating a plan to keep then-President Trump in power after his 2020 election defeat by Joe Biden. For this, he faces charges of violating attorney ethics rules in California.

Judge Yvette Roland concluded in a 128-page decision Wednesday that he should be disbarred.

“Eastman’s actions were fraudulent or dishonest,” the judge said. According to her, the attempt to deprive Biden of victory was “illegal and had no factual or legal basis.”

Her verdict will now be considered by California’s highest judicial instance, which will issue a sentence. Eastman can appeal it.

At the same time, the lawyer, along with Trump and more than a dozen other people, faces charges of violating the law in a case that is being handled by a court in the state of Georgia. Both Trump and Eastman deny the guilt, the date of the trial has not yet been set by the court.
