CSKA representatives today announced the unexpected termination of the contract, which was valid for one more year, while continuing to hold his KHL rights. Neither Fedotov’s agent nor Philadelphia management have commented on the situation yet.

Twenty-seven-year-old Fedotov was detained by the police in July 2022, five months after the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, because, according to the prosecutor’s office, he was evading military service. He was selected for the Arctic Circle, although after a successful season in the KHL and winning the title with CSKA, he signed a contract with the Flyers.

Its validity was confirmed by the IIHF in August last year and suspended until December for signing a new two-year contract with CSKA.

The member of the silver team from the Olympic Games in Beijing nevertheless played in the KHL last season, for which he is at risk of further punishment.
