The Slovak flying car transported the first passenger

--

In recent years, a number of companies have worked or are working on the development of so-called flying cars, including major car companies and aircraft manufacturers.

However, while most companies are going the route of an electric VTOL, i.e. a machine with a vertical take-off and landing, the Slovak company KleinVision has built a real car with folding wings.

AirCar, as the name of the machine sounds, is equipped with an internal combustion engine and, in addition to folding wings, it also has retractable tail surfaces that can be retracted in car mode, making the whole machine smaller. However, the propeller is still visible in the rear.

In 2021, the machine made its first flight between two cities within Slovakia, and in 2022 it received certification confirming its airworthiness from the Slovak authorities. Since then, he has had over 520 take-offs and 130 flight hours.

Recently, the Slovak flying car achieved another important milestone in its history – it transported the first ever passenger. This became the 75-year-old French musician Jean-Michel Jarre, who is considered one of the pioneers of electronic music.

Anton Zajac, co-founder of the creative firm, was to say that production would begin within 12 to 14 months. Prices should start from 500,000 dollars, i.e. almost 11.7 million crowns in conversion. The company is not yet accepting pre-orders.
