She probably didn’t miss her time on the day of the household, at least around Uherský Brod. A doll in a traditional costume, hidden from dust in a transparent Plexiglas box, still adorns nature’s secrets today.
After 85 years, the company Lidov tvorba drstvo umlek vroby with this assortment has finished. Te u preprodv ssoby.
The reason is everything, pointed out the chairman of the company, Ji Adam, who has been with the company for dozens of years. It is a problem of tourism that is declining. People from abroad don’t buy dolls here, and domestic customers just note that I have a grandmother in Almae. The covid and electricity shortage came into play. We heat up with stupid electricity here. In the year 2000, edest people worked here, and today you can…
The three-story building, which was built by the company founded in 1936 in the 1950s, will be used by the company in just a few minutes. The large ic factory with several rooms is empty, the ic machines covered behind each other confirm that they once worked here in a large one, and the last female employees sat at the table.
Run, sew and dress a miniature collection of skirts, gloves, colorful shirts, decorated trousers, vests and hats, put on boots, use a digitizing machine to develop ornaments and put the finished dolls in transparent corrugated boxes.
The production is carried out only in the name of dolls and punks, you can make their prints yourself. Two ready-made dolls in sizes from 12 to 45 centimeters are available in the warehouse. Some are blinkers, others are not, and the bottom will be made of PVC or porcelain.
There was a lack of wings and an icon
In recent years, traditional textile production has also encountered, among other things, a lack of material, fabrics and colored plasters have started to be missing, because their production in Esk has ceased. And due to the shortage of goods, even women who would have been able to handle the rune work began to be found.
Everything in the world leads to the fact that the craft has disappeared, lamented Adam. She wouldn’t stop if there was an outlet. It’s a coda.
It was clear right from the start of production during the first republic that the dolls were in a hurry. They liked the world uprising in Pai, at the uprisings in Brussels, Montreal, Saxe, Berlin or Linz. People’s work employed a hundred people in its heyday. She needed them for the production of individual bodies from PVC, for beer hair, cut-out lengths of fabric, arched dolls, and for making many kinds of costumes, exterior ornaments, and beer colored ribbons.
Production began with the basic costumes of the Hungarian Brod, Nivnik and Boric. It was not just about some brightly colored clothing, but about a specific folk costume that corresponded as closely as possible to the reality of the given ethnographic area.
That’s why dolls and pans are marked according to the city to which they belong, for example Hanak, Valak, Luhaovice-Zles, and distant regions such as Chodsko, Chebsko, Praha-Smchov, Plzeň, Lanhot, Podlu or the Slovak region of Pieany, Horn Sa , diar and Myjava. There is also the Tkovsk goddess and the Vlnovsk king of the roofs.
Ethnographers collaborated to make the costume
To this day, I still have at my disposal a rich sample of a costume that was created sometime in the 50s of the last century. There were about twenty of them.
Germans have the opportunity to look at the set of dolls at the installation in the Jan Amos Comenius Museum in Uherský Brod called Zveme vz na krojov bl, which lasts until the end of the year. It shows a total of 500 dolls, half of which are first from Brodsk People’s creations, the rest from private collections or museum deposit.
The costumes that the dolls are wearing are not just for the eyes, for tourists. The drafters always collaborated with ethnographers of the locality, or at least consulted specialist literature, pointed out one of the authors of the constitution, Veronika Provodovsk.
There are dolls, on which the costume described by ethnographers during the 1950s has been preserved, and in certain localities this version of the costume has not been preserved, or it has been forgotten, added the author of the article.
even in the making, they were always associated with ethnographers, when they created dolls in costumes that they did not fully know, whether from other regions, from Slovakia or abroad. They always made a doll for the test and presented it.
Half a million ron dolls were also produced
Folk art in Brod began in 1936 as a community of folk makers who made dolls at home and in the second half of the twenties they formed into a company. The two of them made dolls with textile and cloth prints, and later they began to make PVC dolls from the then GDR. After that, the company chose sm.
After November 1948, the company changed and sawed under itself and set up operations such as the manufacture of ceramics from Tupes, the manufacture of combs in Brod and in those days Gottwaldov, the manufacture of stamps in Gottwaldov, later the manufacture of antique furniture and toys was added.
In the 1950s, a new building was built in Vazov street in Brod. The costuming of the doll was still huge, and a half million pieces of ron were produced. Every company gives them as gifts to their employees on International Women’s Day or on St. Nicholas Day.
But they never went outside in a big way, Adam pointed out. That used to be the tradition. But the truth is that thanks to foreign tourists and construction, the dolls have reached the whole world.
The dolls also starred in the film, which was created in the studios of Zlín. Hermna Trlov’s short film Ukolbavka is inscribed in the world of animation and won the main Golden prize as the best children’s film at the film festival in Bentke in 1948.
