Prague – Part of the Prague metro route C will stop running on Easter. The transport company (DPP) will exchange sleepers between IPPavlova and Nádraží Holešovice stations. ČTK was informed by DPP spokesperson Aneta Řehková. The lockout will start on Friday 29 March at 04:30 and end on Monday 1 April at 23:59. The trains will therefore start again on Tuesday, April 2 when the service starts. DPP is gradually replacing the old sleepers on the entire route of line C.

“The sleepers come from the time of the construction of the Prague metro roughly 50 years ago. The same number of new concrete sleepers will be installed in their place,” said Řehková.

Workers will replace the old wooden sleepers with new concrete sleepers on both tracks between the Muzeum and Hlavní nádraží stations. In this section, company employees will remove 694 sleepers and the other 365 original sleepers will then be replaced by a hired company.

After the completion of this part of the track modernization, 12,528 sleepers will be replaced on the C line route, which is more than 60 percent of the total number. So there will be 869 pieces left to replace.
