The new section of the trail will measure 895 meters and will run along road II/183 in Rokycany. The surface will be made of asphalt concrete, the part for pedestrians will be made of concrete paving. Everything is complemented by LED lights on eight-meter masts. The project for 13.89 million crowns without VAT should be completed by May. Part of the event is also the construction of a relief of the existing unified sewerage system to Rakovského potok, in order to avoid problems with torrential rains in the future, when the sewage system could not keep up and houses were flooded.

“From the original sidewalk, a mixed cycle path for pedestrians and cyclists will be built along road II/183 from the roundabout intersection of Šťáhlavská x Božena Němcová x Vysoký prőhon streets to the area of the roundabout intersection of Šťáhlavská x Plzeňská x Arbesova streets with a total construction length of 950.57 meters,” describing Sárka Kozlerova from the City Development Department of the Rokycany Municipal Office, which is in charge of the investment.

“The city received financial support from the Union for the construction of a mixed path for pedestrians and cyclists – Šťáhlavská, Rokycany from the 36th IROP call,” she added Gabriela Šimová from the Financial Department of the Rokycany Municipal Office, which is in charge of subsidies. “According to the contract, construction will last seven months. The work is going according to plan and should be finished by the end of May,” added Kozlerová.

The city also wants to solve the problem of torrential rains

Part of the investment is the construction of the relief of the existing unified sewage system from Šťáhlavská and Tymákovská streets to Rakovského potok. In the case of torrential rains, it does not keep up and floods properties and local roads.

“Construction will begin in the existing inspection sewer shaft in the sidewalk next to the road in Šťáhlavské Street, approximately 25 meters below the intersection with Pod Čilinou Street. The inlet and bottom will be modified in the existing shaft. Furthermore, a coarse leachate trap will be installed in the shaft. The construction will end in the inspection sewer shaft at the intersection of Šťáhlavská and Tymákovská streets. The existing shaft will be replaced with a new one with a larger diameter,” the spokesperson of the city elaborates Adriana Jarošová. There will be seven additional inspection sewer manholes on the relief route. The maximum flow through relief is 1200 liters per second.
