An anonymous donor donated to the neonatal unit. FNOL donated the device for half a million

--

A generous donation recently arrived at the Neonatal Department of the Olomouc University Hospital. An anonymous donor donated the device to the department for half a million crowns. The video laryngoscope opens up new possibilities in the intubation of the lower respiratory tract in newborns. Thanks to it, these procedures will be gentler and faster.

“Transferring the image from the examined tissues to the monitor is nowadays an integral part of various examinations and therapeutic procedures in modern medicine. These trends are also part of neonatological procedures for securing the lower airways, or intubation,” said Vladimír Mišuth, who is the deputy head of the Neonatal Department of the university hospital. The device via an optical cable enables transmission from the oral cavity and entry into the lower respiratory tract via a monitor that is located right next to the patient.

“The donor’s story is admirable – he wanted to dedicate his entire life savings to saving lives, and for that he chose our Neonatal Department. The donor wanted to make his donation quietly and anonymously, we fully respect his decision. At the same time, we would like to at least briefly publish the story to thank and express great respect and admiration to the person who supported us. The story is almost a fairy tale for us,” concluded Mishuth.
