Basketball player Vít Krejčí from Atlanta converted all six shooting attempts and improved his personal record in an NBA game with six three-pointers and 18 points in Chicago on Monday. The 23-year-old Czech representative helped the Hawks to a 113:101 victory over the Bulls.
Krejčí improved his maximum despite playing less than 25 minutes, at least in the last seven games. The previous record of the Strakonice native in the NBA was 16 points and four three-pointers. He was the first Czech player to score six three-point baskets in one game. In addition to the points, Krejčí also recorded four defensive rebounds and three assists.
“It’s about confidence. You hit a few shots, the team is playing well. The reason we shot well in general was because we moved the ball well. When you hit a three after three passes, it’s always better than after one,” Krejčí said , who was the team’s second best scorer after Bogdan Bogdanovic.
Krejčí converted five three-pointers already in the first half, while scoring the fifth in the last second of the second quarter. He added the sixth three-pointer at the beginning of the third period. Atlanta won the fifth game in the last six and secured the tenth place, which means participation in the preliminary round of the playoffs.
The Hawks shot 50 percent, including over 47 percent from three-point range. Bogdanovic, who was caught on camera arguing with coach Quin Snyder, scored 20 points. Dejounte Murray had 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists. DeMar DeRozan’s 31 points didn’t help Chicago, a potential opponent of the Hawks in the preliminary round.
Devin Booker’s 52 points led Phoenix to a 124-111 victory over New Orleans. After the legendary Wilt Chamberlain, he is only the second player in the history of the competition to score at least 50 points three times in a row against one opponent.
“It means a lot to me, my whole family was in the audience. Every time you do something like Wilt, it’s totally unique,” said the shooter, who is from Moss Point, which is 110 km from New Orleans. Booker made 19 of 28 attempts, including eight of 16 3-pointers. “He hit some tough shots, but we gave him too much space. We have to be more physical next time,” Pelicans coach Willie Green said.
Kevin Durant contributed 20 points to Phoenix’s win, Jusuf Nurkic had 19 points and 19 rebounds. Zion Williamson led the home team with 30 points.
Memphis won in Detroit 110-108 mainly thanks to Jaren Jackson’s 40 points. Cade Cunningham’s 36 points didn’t help the home team.
Already a certain winner of the Eastern Conference and the leader of the competition, Boston won 118:104 in Charlotte. Jayson Tatum, who also had ten rebounds, and Sam Hauser scored 25 points. He converted seven triples. In the fight to maintain sixth place in the Eastern Conference, Indiana won 133:111 over Brooklyn, over which it led by up to 36 points. Tyrese Haliburton shined with 27 points and 13 assists.
