Foreign leagues: Manchester City outclassed Brighton and moved within a point of Arsenal

With today’s 4-0 victory in Brighton, Manchester City’s footballers took an important step towards defending their title in the English league. After successfully managing the end of the 29th round, the champions moved ahead of Liverpool in second place in the Premier League table, a point behind leaders Arsenal, who played a game more.

Kevin De Bruyne, who scored his 68th Premier League goal but the first with a header, headed City to a clear win in the 17th minute without injured striker Erling Haaland. Phil Foden scored twice before the break, in the 26th minute after a run from a free kick and eight minutes later with a technical shot after a complicated play by the home team. In the 62nd minute, Argentine world champion Julián Álvarez sealed the score after Kyle Walker’s action.

Manchester City followed up on Saturday’s victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals and scored at least four goals in the league for the fourth time in a row. In the Premier League, he became the fourth team to do it after Manchester United in 2000, himself in 2022 and Arsenal this March.

Serie A

Bryan Cristante scored a goal in the fifth set minute to win AS Rome 2:1 in Udine in the extra time of the suspended match of the 32nd round of the Italian league. Eleven days ago, the match was not finished after the collapse of the Roman defender Evan Ndicky, it was interrupted at 1:1 in the 73rd minute.

After Paul Dybala’s corner, Cristante decided the end of the game with a header, who less than two weeks ago crossed Romelu Lukaku’s first goal. With the win, AS Roma secured fifth place, which ensures participation in the Champions League, and has a four-point lead over Bergamo. Udine are just a score above the relegation zone.

Ndicky’s examination after the collapse revealed no serious medical problems and the 24-year-old Ivorian footballer was cleared to return to football full time.
