Volkswagen presented us with a modernization in the order of the eighth generation of the Golf this January. The novelty, which primarily focuses on technical improvements, has already made its way to the Czech configurator. After improving the model, the brand did not increase the initial price tag drastically with regard to the new weakest motorization – the basic three-cylinder engine was removed from the offer, which at first glance increased the Golf’s starting price tag again. However, a decent price increase only occurs with the higher Style and R-Line equipment.

The latest Golf therefore starts at a price of CZK 554,900, newly with the default four-cylinder 1.5 TSI (85 kW/115 hp), manual six-speed transmission and Limited equipment. For comparison, the eighth generation of the hatchback hit the market in 2020 with a price of CZK 548,900, in combination with the 1.5 TSI EVO engine (96 kW/130 hp).

The Limited equipment provides the Golf with 15-inch wheels, keyless start, front and rear parking sensors or a larger 12.9-inch infotainment system. With the same engine, the Golf level from CZK 637,900 will also offer, for example, a winter package with heating of the steering wheel and front seats. For the higher Life level (from CZK 658,900), 16-inch alloy wheels, ambient interior lighting and adaptive cruise control are standard.

Starting at a price of 704,900 CZK, the Life level is also available with a more powerful version of the 1.5 TSI (110 kW/150 hp), as well as with a diesel 2.0 TDI (from 723,900 CZK) or a mild-hybrid 1.5 eTSI with automatic DSG (from 743,900 CZK). You can also find this range of engines in the People trim (from CZK 663,900), where 17-inch alloy wheels, a rear camera or LED lighting of the strip between the headlights are also available.

The Style level from 782,900 CZK, starting with the more powerful 1.5 TSI (110 kW/150 hp), brings more significant changes in appearance. The traditionally sportier appearance is, however, the domain of the R-Line equipment, which brings only the most powerful variants of the aforementioned engines and also a different design of 17-inch wheels or R-Line interior upholstery from a price of 790,900 CZK. Here, the price increase is much more pronounced, four years ago, the Golf R-Line of the eighth generation with a fifteen-cylinder engine (110 kW/150 hp) started on the market at a price of CZK 653,900.

The facelifted Volkswagen Golf R was revealed in camouflage. The premiere will be in the summer

It is enough to add that the Variant station wagon is 25,000-27,000 CZK more expensive (starting at 579,900 CZK), but it is not available in the People trim. The eHybrid and GTE plug-in hybrids are not yet available in the Czech configurator, and we also have to wait for the price tags of the latest GTI hot hatch.
