According to The Times of Israel website, the minister’s car crashed on the way from Ramla in central Israel, where an 18-year-old girl was stabbed on Friday afternoon. Ben Gvir went to the place.
A dashcam video shows the minister’s black sedan approaching the intersection and slowing almost to a complete stop at a red light.
Soon, however, he starts to accelerate again, drives into an intersection, and another passenger car hits his right side head-on and flips it onto its roof.
The minister’s sedan was followed to the intersection by a white SUV, in which the minister’s bodyguard was apparently driving. A pair of men in uniform ran out of the car immediately after the collision.
The Jerusalem Post reported that Ben Gvir’s condition is stable. The police are investigating the accident.
The stabbed girl was taken to the hospital in serious condition, according to Israeli media, it was supposed to be a terrorist attack.
Ben Gvir is the head of the ultra-nationalist Ocma Yehudit (Jewish Power) party, and has been serving as Minister of National Security since December 2022. He is a hawk in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, which has been the most right-wing since the creation of Israel.
He supports the expansion of Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories, he himself is one of the settlers in the West Bank. He has also become famous for his harsh anti-Muslim stances and sharp statements against Israel’s opponents in the Middle East. Some time ago, for example, he declared that rocket attacks by the Shiite movement Hezbollah are considered a declaration of war. He called for a “frantic” response after the massive Iranian air attack on Israel on April 13.
