Pavelkova street in Olomouc will be completely closed to traffic for six weeks due to construction works. The construction company will start repairing the road in the section from Lipenská Street before the bridge over Bystřice on April 2, and it should be finished by May 14. With the exception of two days when it will be necessary to lay a new layer of asphalt, only public transport will be able to pass through the building and, with the construction permit, the necessary traffic service of the connected areas.

The road will be repaired in a section approximately 640 meters long. The construction company will first remove the old asphalt layers in order to replace them with new ones, replace the concrete curbs, street drains and add paving. The work will take place under complete traffic closures. Exceptions will be made only for public transport vehicles and, with a building permit, also the necessary traffic service for areas connected to K Mrázirnám Street. Pedestrian access will be maintained during construction.
“On the weekend of May 4 to 5, the plan is to lay the asphalt mixture. At that time, the closure will also apply to public transport. Necessary service will be allowed to pass from Hodolanská street to Farského street and then to K Mrázirnám street. It will be possible to exit Purkyňová street to Hodolanská. In the event of unsuitable climatic conditions for laying, the laying date would be postponed until the weekend of May 11 to 12,” clarifies the head of the transport department, Marek Černý, adding that the contractor will notify all entities in advance of any change.
The estimated cost of the construction is eleven million crowns. “Citizens who will be affected by the construction works are asked to be patient and observe the temporary traffic signs. This is primarily to ensure their own safety. However, this will also enable the successful progress and subsequent completion of the construction works,” encourages the head of the transport department Černý.
