Prague – A cardboard box on the roof caught fire near Prague’s Wenceslas Square around noon today, the Prague fire department announced on social media https://twitter.com/HasiciPraha/status/1773309412855169520. Thick smoke could be seen from afar. According to initial information, the fire is on construction site, said Kateřina Suchánská, spokeswoman for the Prague fire department, to ČTK.

Smoke is rising from the area behind the building on the corner of Wenceslas Square and Jindřišská Street, a ČTK reporter found out on the spot. “This is a cardboard fire on a new building with an area of ​​ten by 15 meters, at the moment it is not possible to set up a ladder, the intervention is carried out inside the building using breathing techniques,” the firemen said before 12:30.

Jindřišská street is closed to traffic, not even trams will pass. The operation of six tram lines is limited, the transport company is diverting trams according to its website.
