Karel Havlíček stated this at the press conference today. On Wednesday, the government led by Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) approved another financial contribution to this initiative to support Ukraine, but did not disclose the amount of this contribution.
The State Department announced on Wednesday that the number of artillery ammunition to be provided to Ukraine is not final. The original plan included the purchase of 800,000 artillery shells.
According to Karel Havlíček, the shadow government is in no way against the plan to purchase ammunition for Ukraine, but it is fundamentally opposed to the way in which the government implements it. Havlíček emphasized that he does not agree with how the government decided on the funds for this activity in secret, although it is public money.
In addition, according to him, the government initially declared that the Czech Republic would not invest in this initiative from its budget and that its role would be only organizational. Havlíček further stated that he is not asking the government to release classified information about who exactly what ammunition was purchased from.
“We understand that this is a question of the security of the Czech Republic and that some negotiations must take place in secret,” he said, adding that ANO demands that the government inform the public how much Czech aid will be.
