Weather: The Czech Republic will be hit by strong winds, which may damage buildings. Experts warn of dust from the Sahara

IN Monday it will be cloudy to overcast, showers or rain will occur in places in the afternoon and evening, occasionally even thunderstorms. The highest temperatures will reach 17 to 21 °C, in the east up to 23 °C. It will initially be a moderate southerly wind at a speed of 2 to 6 m/s, in Moravia and Silesia with gusts of a speed of 15 to 20 m/s. But it will weaken in the evening.

A smog warning is in effect for most areas until further notice. “Sahara dust is reaching our territory, which is manifested by increased cloudiness, turbidity in the air and increased concentrations of PM10 (dust particles), despite good dispersion conditions. The concentration of Saharan dust will decrease with the passage of a cold front during Monday afternoon,” said meteorologists of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute in the forecast.

A strong wind warning is also in effect for the Moravian-Silesian region until Monday at 8 p.m. It can reach up to 70 km/h in impacts. There is a risk of damage to trees or buildings. “It is recommended to secure windows, doors, remove or fix loose objects, secure greenhouses, etc. Take extra care when moving outside and when driving vehicles. In the mountains, limit hikes and do not go especially to ridge areas,” the meteorologists said in the warning.

Night on Tuesday it will be cloudy to cloudy, there will be rain or showers in Moravia and Silesia. The lowest temperatures will drop to 9 to 5 °C. Moderate west to north-west wind blowing at a speed of 3 to 7 m/s, with gusts around 15 m/s in places.

On Tuesday, it will be changeable, mainly cloudy and there will be showers in most areas, which may be mixed or snowy in areas above 1200 m. The highest temperatures will reach 11 to 15 °C. A fresh westerly wind will blow at a speed of 5 to 10 m/s with gusts around 15 m/s, but it will weaken in the evening.

On Wednesday the meteorologists of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute predict that it will be partly clear to cloudy at first, with occasional showers in the mountains. The lowest night temperatures will drop to 7 to 3 °C, then during the day they will reach 12 to 16 °C, in the southeast up to 18 °C. There will be a moderate westerly to south-westerly wind at a speed of 3 to 7 m/s, but it will weaken in the evening.

In Thursday it will be cloudy to overcast, there will be showers in places. The lowest night temperatures will drop to 9 to 5 °C, then reach 13 to 17 °C during the day, up to 19 °C in the southeast. Light south-west to west wind blowing at 2 to 6 m/s, which will decrease in the evening.
