The trams collided on Karlovarská třída in Pilsen near the Pod Záhorskem stop. Trains No. 1 and 4 were following each other, when the first of them had to stop suddenly after driving tens of meters from the stop, because one of the passengers had her hand pinched in the door.

“After departing from the Pod Záhorskem stop, the driver of tram line No. 4 did not drive the set at a mutual distance according to the visibility conditions, and specifically did not maintain a safe distance from the vehicle driving in front of her, did not reduce her speed in time and did not stop in front of the tram, which stopped suddenly,” the inspection stated .

Its conclusion will be crucial for police investigators, who will probably prosecute the culprit for public endangerment.

Dozens of injured passengers

During the accident, paramedics treated a total of 28 people. “They suffered rather minor injuries in the area of the head, chest and upper limbs. The tram driver is moderately injured,” said Mária Svobodová, a spokeswoman for rescuers. Ambulances took all patients to hospitals.
