Twenty cars were auctioned off at five hundred each, only two vans were bid on by interested parties

“I guess I’m stupid,” commented Jirka from Rakovník for Novinky right after the auction, who offered a price of 8,500 crowns for a VW Transporter with flatbed, which was the highest bid. “I would like to operate the car because it is ideal for bricklayers. But we’ll see, it’s a lottery, what condition the car will actually be in,” he added.

“I didn’t want to give more. The man who auctioned the car probably has a bigger wallet,” assessed the auctioneer with number three. “I wanted the car for spare parts. For example, there aren’t many gearboxes from this car,” he revealed. In the end, however, he also lived to see another one of the vans auctioned for fourteen thousand crowns.

Most often, Prokop Linert applied for the auction at the starting price of five hundred crowns per car. “I will either continue to sell them or have them disposed of. There is also the possibility of selling spare parts. That remains to be seen,” he described. “I bid on cars according to their condition and also according to price. It wouldn’t be worth it at a higher price,” he revealed, adding that he runs a car repair shop in Karlovy Vary.

“Parked and obviously unused vehicles with failed technical inspection for more than six months went to the auction,” said Jan Kopál, spokesman for the Karlovy Vary municipality, stating that without exception these were vehicles from the streets of Karlovy Vary, which no one showed interest in despite repeated calls and their the owners could not be traced.

“The eleven pieces of wrecks were not auctioned, they were immediately disposed of,” noted the spokesman, according to whom the city has found over a hundred parked vehicles in the streets in the past two years. “Roughly seventy percent of them were removed by the operators themselves after a call,” added Kopál.

All twenty-two vehicles were auctioned, with a starting price of five hundred crowns. “Twenty vehicles were auctioned at this price,” said a city spokesman. “A higher than the reserve price was achieved for two vehicles, a blue VW Transporter with a flatbed for 8,500 crowns and a white van of the same brand for 14,000 crowns,” stated Kopál, stating that the auction was conducted by the enforcement office.
