WC under 18: Canada – Czech Republic 6:0. A goal after only five seconds, Iginl’s son was on a rampage

--

Seventeen-year-old Tij Iginla, son of former NHL star Jarome Iginla, scored two goals for Canada’s win. Three points were scored by Malcolm Spence, Gavin McKenna and Porter Martone. The next match in Group B awaits the Czech team on Sunday, when they will face Sweden.

The horror entry into the match began for the Czech team immediately after the opening goal, when Spence surprised goalkeeper Milota with a shot. Canada took the lead five seconds into the game and Spence scored the fastest goal in U18 World Cup history.

The author of the first goal was sent off eleven seconds later, but instead of equalizing, Canada once again prevailed in a weakened state. Iginla’s pass was unfortunately knocked into the goal by Titlbach.

In the 8th minute, Iginla already scored himself when he finished off a quick combination with a precise shot in the power play. When 24 seconds later he got through after a shot from the blue and running Wetsch, Milota ceded the space in the goal to Vystrčil.

The Czechs had an ideal chance to reduce the score in a 102-second power play, five on three, but they could not beat goalkeeper George. Canada then played two five-minute power plays, but the overseas players could not punish the exclusion of Daníček and Sikora.

The Czech team optically caught up with the opponent, but did not convert their chances. Švec, Benák or, after a separate action, Jecho could have reduced, but George was attentive. Vystrčil also caught just as well, for example against Beaudoin at the end of the second half.

In the 44th minute, Vystrčil’s shot from Mews was saved by the post, four minutes later he conceded for the first time in the match. He still eliminated Spence’s first chance, he was not enough to stop the same player.

The Czechs subsequently did not use another five-on-three power play, this time 35 seconds long, they did not take advantage of the five-minute numerical advantage and in the end conceded one more time. McKenna won in 59:19.
