/GALLERY/ A serious accident happened on Tuesday evening on the main road through Mohelnice. Five passengers were injured and taken to the Olomouc University Hospital.

Two passenger cars collided on the outskirts of Mohelnice on the road to Zábřeh before nine o’clock in the evening. “The driver of a VW Passat was driving in the direction of the village of Libivá, started to turn left onto a Class III road and at the same time did not give way to an oncoming Toyota Urban vehicle. A collision followed, after which the Toyota ended up on the guardrails,” informed police spokeswoman Miluše Zajícová.

There was one passenger in the suspect driver’s vehicle. In addition to the driver, there were two other people in the second vehicle. “During the accident, all five participants in the accident were injured, and they were taken to the university hospital by ambulance,” added Zajícová.
Firefighters also had to intervene
“One person remained wedged in the cab of the car, we had to extricate him. We provided first aid to the other injured. We transported the injured patients to the ambulances,” Lucie Balážová, the spokeswoman for the responding firefighters, informed.
The driver was breathalyzed with a negative result, and the female driver, due to her health condition, was ordered to have a blood sample taken at the hospital. “The damage to the vehicles was preliminarily estimated at 250,000 crowns and 10,000 on the guardrails. The accident is still under investigation,” concluded Zajícová.
