This week, Tajik security forces detained nine people who, according to them, have ties to the suspects of the terrorist attack in the concert hall near Moscow and to the Islamic State – Khorasan, i.e. the Afghan branch of this terrorist group. Citing a security source in this Central Asian country, Reuters reported this on Friday.

Security forces detained nine people in the city of Vachdat on Monday and took them to the metropolis of Dushanbe. The Russian agency RIA Novosti informs about the detention of nine suspects in Tajikistan in connection with the recent bloody attack in Krasnogorsk near Moscow, which, according to the latest balance sheet of the Russian authorities, left 143 dead and hundreds injured. More information on these detainees is not yet available.

The Islamic State (IS) has repeatedly claimed responsibility for the attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall. He last did so on Thursday, hours after Russia’s investigative committee said it had evidence of the attackers’ financial ties to Ukraine, but did not release the evidence, according to Reuters. Washington called the Russian investigative committee’s claims nonsense.

Moscow, which has been waging a large-scale military aggression in Ukraine since February 2022, has suggested from the start that the attackers were linked to Ukraine. Kyiv strongly denied any ties.

Russian security forces detained 11 people in the first 24 hours after the attack, and eight of them – including four suspected perpetrators – ended up in custody, Reuters reported. On Thursday, the Russian Investigative Committee reported on another detainee, who it said was involved in financing the operation. Most of the detainees are from Tajikistan.
