One of the users on the X social network boasted about a curious case that has no parallels in the world of smartphones. Applications accumulated on his Xiaomi 11 Pro phone, so he started cleaning the storage, i.e. uninstalling those applications that he no longer needs. One of the applications is the “Android system” item, which is, de facto, a large part of the system itself. With regular phones, it is not possible to remove this app from the system, but this user managed to do it. What happened next probably won’t surprise you too much. However, the story has an interesting ending.

What happens to Android when you uninstall the Android System app from it? It will be “destroyed”

What happens when you uninstall the “Android System” system component within Android? Unsurprisingly, the phone will no longer boot. When you try to reboot your phone, you will get a simple information that “The Android system has been destroyed”. However, the very possibility of uninstalling a “system within a system” is a problem, which should not be possible with commonly available phones. A brave takt user contacted Xiaomi, the manufacturer of his phone, asking how this could happen. He provided the manufacturer with the IMEI code of his Xiaomi 11 Pro phone and he was not surprised.

It turned out that the user from Ethiopia had been using a prototype or developer version of the phone for almost a year and a half, which did not have the necessary protective mechanisms. And this despite the fact that, according to him, he bought the phone online in a regular sales network. Xiaomi wanted to save the whole situation by offering him an identical model for free in exchange for a non-functional test phone, or 70% discount when purchasing one of the newer models. According to Xiaomi, just bring it to one of the stores. But the problem is that Xiaomi has no brick and mortar branches in Ethiopia…

It is not yet clear how the story will end for this user. However, we finally know how to destroy Android.
