According to his own words, the best Czech MMA fighter Jiří Procházka has had the best training in his career. And he believes that he will confirm it when he returns to the elite series of the UFC, during the gala evening of which he will face the Austrian of Serbian origin Aleksandar Rakic in Las Vegas on April 13.
Walk will step into the Octagon for the first time since his controversial defeat to Brazilian Alex Pereira in his unsuccessful bid for the light heavyweight title.
He entered the November match after a year and a half of shoulder treatment. In New York, he scored his first defeat in eight years.
He is said to be in much better shape now. “I have had the best preparation of my entire career. In every way,” emphasized the 31-year-old native of Hostěradice in the Znojmo region before his Friday flight overseas.
“We focused on intensity, volume and details, and all of that was supported by full health in recent weeks,” he boasted.
Rakič has been wanting to fight Procházka for a long time, and he made it quite clear on social networks.
He did not wrestle for two years, he had torn ligaments in his knee. That is why the Czech wrestler will enter the match as a favorite. “Rakič is a complex fighter, a great worker,” Procházka praised his rival.
“After such a break, he will want to give his best performance, there will be more pressure on him. I have to be healthy and aggressive. I know he is leaning on me on social networks, but that keeps me fired up. I will do my best to win,” he responded to the Austrian’s big-mouthed messages .
The match will decide the new European number one. Procházka is number two and Rakič number five in the global UFC rankings. However, it will not be a title like in November against Pereira. But the Czech fighter doesn’t mind.
“We are not like hockey players who play every week. I have been preparing for this fight for a long time and I take it as the culmination of my life so far. It is this approach that makes a fight a fight, that is MMA,” pointed out Procházka.
He is not thinking about further title fights in the light heavyweight category. “I’m not dealing with that now. Rakič is ahead of me in Vegas, and what happens next remains to be seen,” he declared.
Overall, the Czech fighter has a record of 29 wins, four losses and one draw.
