The organization DxO Mark recently published the result of the test of the Xiaomi 14 flight camera. This is a new peak model, which, however, does not stand at the top of the range, there is a type 14 Ultra. Compared to me, the model 14 has some steps in the equipment, including the camera itself. However, it is very solid, even if it is still a little behind the competition. The small result represents a shift compared to the old types, and two more that Xiaomi could finally pull off even its current most inflated smartphone.
The Xiaomi 14 scored 138 points in the DxO Mark photomobile test, which is quite a good result. Moreover, it is the best performance of a Xiaomi smartphone, ahead of it is only the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra and Xiaomi 13 Ultra, although the jump is minimal. So it happens that the Xiaomi 14 takes photos at the same time as these models, and this is especially true for photos taken with the main camera, there are differences in the speed of the camera. New to its old sibling, it loses the zoom, but it doesn’t have the same hardware as both old models. The reason, however, is that the Xiaomi 14 performs a little better in the test than its predecessor, the Xiaomi 13 Pro, which has better zoom hardware (and is even better at it). And compared to its predecessor, the Xiaomi 13 model, the novelty made a jump of 8 points, it’s not dramatic, but it is significantly improved.

In the context of the competition, Xiaomi should go ahead, but the loss is not abysmal. The 14 model is your competition for the iPhone 15, which scored 145 points in the test, the Pixel 8 has 148 points. And the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra scored 144 points in the test, but the S24 model has not yet passed the DxO Mark photomobile test, but it can be expected that so it could soon be similar to the first Xiaomi 14.
All in all, the camera of the top-of-the-line Xiaomi 14 Ultra should achieve a significantly better score in the DxO Mark test, and finally, the old Mi 11 Ultra should be able to dislodge the old Mi 11 Ultra from the photomobile category. The difference should perhaps be the space and path to a nice camera. While the current Xiaomi 14 model is quite different from the old Xiaomi 13 (the 50-megapixel sensor replaces one with 50 megapixels, a ten-megapixel zoom and a twelve-megapixel wide-angle camera), the actual hardware of the 14 Ultra type did not change so dramatically at first glance: the same as the old type 13 Ultra are those fifty-megapixel cameras.
The Star Xiaomi 13 Ultra was a bit of a crossover between smartphones with a one-inch sensor for the main camera (the latter also had the 12S Ultra type two years later, but Xiaomi was the first of the major manufacturers with such an IP) and it turns out that the manufacturers have to play with this IP a bit learn to work. Xiaomi glued the optics a little on the Type 14 Ultra, so the company could focus first on the software-friendly focus. We are curious to see how it will turn out with this model in the fall test, it could be quite interesting.
